Flat Rock Village Council to hold Sept 8 town hall meeting on grant funding (Aug 30, 2022)
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Flat Rock, North Carolina, August 30, 2022—The Flat Rock Village Council will hold a town hall meeting for the village community on Thursday, September 8, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
This will be the final town hall meeting of the year and, while a variety of topics will be discussed, the focus of this meeting will be presenting to the community the Village procedure for allocating funds made possible by the American Rescue Plan. Project funding will be available for general government services (fire departments, sheriff’s office, emergency services, etc.) and local independent businesses and nonprofits through an application and eligibility process.
“We’ve been working on putting together a process that complies with federal and state law so we can help organizations and businesses in the Flat Rock community that were negatively affected by COVID,” said Mayor Nick Weedman. “After much discussion and careful consideration, I think we’ve come up with a process that will enable us to do that in an open and transparent manner.”
The meeting will follow a format of brief introductions by village officials and then an extended time for attendees to provide input and ask questions on topics that are important to them. It will be held Thursday, September 8, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Pinecrest Presbyterian Church (1790 Greenville Highway, on the corner of Greenville Highway and N. Highland Lake Road).
