Flat Rock Village Council congratulates former council member Albert Gooch on his regional leadership award (Dec 20, 2021)

Flat Rock, North Carolina, December 20, 2021—The Flat Rock Village Council congratulates former council member Albert Gooch on receiving the Charles H. Campbell Regional Leadership Award from the Land of Sky Regional Council. Gooch served on the Flat Rock Village Council from 2013 to 2021 and was the village delegate to Land of Sky during his two terms. In presenting this award, the Land of Sky Regional Council Executive Committee noted Gooch’s “dedication and leadership to Land of Sky Regional Council and Western North Carolina.”  

The Charles H. Campbell Regional Leadership Award is named for the four-time Land of Sky Regional Council chairman and long-time Brevard mayor who himself received national recognition for regional leadership in 1977. The award was dedicated in 1983 to annually honor an outstanding contributor to the betterment of Western North Carolina and the Land of Sky Region. The Council’s Executive Committee awards it to a board member who has made a major long-term contribution to the Council and its governance. The award was presented to Gooch by Land of Sky Regional Council board chair Barbara Volk and executive director Nathan Ramsey on Dec 1. 

Land of Sky Regional Council is a multi-county, local government, planning and development organization providing technical assistance to local governments and administering projects and programs that benefit the region’s citizens. Their mission is to provide creative regional solutions to relevant and emerging issues in Buncombe, Henderson, Madison, and Transylvania counties while providing a standard of excellence in the delivery of federal, state, and regional services for their member communities.
