Flat Rock Village Council announces grant award process (Sept 20, 2022)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Flat Rock, North Carolina, September 20, 2022—The Flat Rock Village Council announces the opening of a grant award application process to provide financial support to public service providers and Flat Rock-based independent businesses and nonprofits impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The funding for this grant process is made possible by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.

Initial applications must be submitted to the Flat Rock Village Administrator by November 23, 2022. The Village Council may seek community input to assist in ranking of potential awards and will make the final approval of all awards. The results will be posted publicly. Application forms can be downloaded from the Grant Award Process page on the Village of Flat Rock website (villageofflatrock.org).

Potential grant award candidates will be grouped into one of three classifications:

  • Village services
  • General government services
  • Independent businesses and nonprofits

Village service awards will include Premium Pay for Village employees, consultation/administration costs associated with the grant program, and possibly a stormwater project (Dye Creek) in The Park at Flat Rock.

General government service awards will be based on specific needs as recommended by our public services providers, including fire & rescue departments, Sheriff’s Office, EMT Services, and the Henderson County Rescue Squad. Public service providers must submit a General Government Services Grant Application for consideration.

Flat Rock-based independent business and nonprofit awards will be based on specific pandemic-related economic impacts as documented by the business or nonprofit on the Independent Business and Nonprofit Grant Application. As a minimum, applicants will be required to show a 20 percent reduction in revenue from a base year, prior to declaration of the pandemic emergency, to the following year. In addition, there are several Federal and State requirements governing the award of funds to nonprofits and independent businesses as outlined in the application.
