Planning Board
The Planning Board is made up of seven members appointed by the village council for three-year terms. The board meets the first Tuesday of each month at 10:30 a.m. in the Village Hall. All Planning Board meetings are open to the public under N.C. Open Meetings Law.
The responsibilities of the Planning Board include the following:
- Advise and make recommendations to the village council regarding proposed land development plans
- Review, advise and make recommendations to the village council regarding major subdivision applications
- Review and approve, approve with conditions or disapprove minor subdivisions
- Review and make recommendation to the village council regarding proposed residential and commercial planned unit developments and special use applications
- Initiate and make recommendations to amend land use ordinances
- Assess growth and development plans and consider their potential for immediate and long-term impact on the village
- Consult as needed with professionals with expertise in the areas of engineering, land use and planning
