Voting Information
For information about voter registration, change of address, where to vote, etc., contact the Henderson County Board of Elections at 828.697.4970 or visit their website.
Voter ID is required in the state of North Carolina. Registered voters who do not have an acceptable identification card for voting in North Carolina can go to the Henderson County Board of Elections office (75 E. Central Street, Hendersonville) to get a free ID. No special documents are needed. You will simply provide your name, date of birth, and the last four digits of your Social Security number, and have your photo taken.
A North Carolina driver’s license is an acceptable form of photo ID for voting, so if you have a North Carolina driver's license, you do not need to obtain a separate ID.
Other common forms of acceptable ID include:
- Military or veterans ID cards issued by the federal government
- College student cards that the State Board approved for use in voting
- Public employer ID cards that the State Board approved for use in voting
For a full list of acceptable forms of photo ID for voting, see the State Board’s website at Voter ID.
